Christmas Story Teller

Three Christmas editions were released: Christmas Story Teller 1 (1983), Christmas Story Teller 2 (1984) and Christmas Story Teller 3 (1985). Each had a “bumper 64 pages”, roughly the equivalent of two normal Story Teller issues. These three special editions had a fantastic mix of festive stories and popular carols.

Each festive issue complemented the Story Teller series published in that same year by featuring some of the most popular characters from that series. For instance, in Christmas Story Teller 1 Timbertwig (the star of a five-instalment series from the original Story Teller) returned for a Christmas adventure and the story What Wanda Wanted had cameo appearances from Rapunzel, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty.

Surprisingly, Gobbolino (surely the character most identified with Story Teller) did not appear in the first Christmas Story Teller but had starring roles in the second and third. Christmas Story Teller 3 was the most light hearted of the three Christmas editions. Clearly aimed at a younger audience, it contained shorter stories including three featuring the Magic Mountain characters from that year’s series, Little Story Teller.

I downloaded a torrent version of part 1. The cassettes quality is terrible but the digital versions are perfect. If you can’t find them online I might be able to email each track to you

OMG! this is amazing. My sister and I had the christmas storyteller 3 and it was a part of our xmas eve ritual to listen to it for so may years when we were kids.

It was just magical. PLus the story about the young girl who had never seen the snow and her cat “chang poo” as i recall used to make us hysterical 😉

My brother and I used to listen to Christmas Storyteller 1 on Christmas Eve and this brings back so many memories I have the tape still but would love it on CD any chance they would re-release it. I would love my Children to be able to listen to it and continue the Christmas tradition.

I have been searching absolutely high and low for the Christmas book details on this collection for the last 10 years…I remember this collection of stories so fondly and clearly, although having read them aged 5-8 years of age, I had no idea of the name/publisher or anything to re locate them…I just remember the stories…I have now found them:-) YAY!!!!!
but I remember having the full collection in hardback all those years ago, would anyone have any details or remember a hardback version, Thank you 🙂

  8. Andy says:

Wouldn’t it be great if the whole lot could be released as an app for iTunes, Android, and windows? I personally think it would be a hit!! 🙂

  9. Andy says:

Possibly eBay or there used to be someone on Amazon with the full set for sale, but not sure if its still there. Good luck 😃

Shame Christmas Story Teller 3 doesn’t have any links to click on. I have it on cassette somewhere but just wanted to hear “A Carol for Gobbolino”.

Please please please put the Christmas story teller 3 on here ASAP. I listened to that from the year I got it until I was about 16 every Christmas Eve (not that I would ever admit it!) I still have the tape but not the book! Story tellers were without a doubt the best thing to come out of my childhood and even at the age of 34 and a mother of one I come on here each night and listen to one to send me to sleep! Thank you do much for this web page!

I have set of story time 1-26
Also Christmas story time 1and2 with tapes stored in great condition. What would be a fair price to sell them for. Any ideas.

This is an amazing website , it has taken myself and my two sisters back to our childhood, we loved storyteller thanks for taking the time to put this together 💜🎼👏😀

  18. Marilyn says:

Would be wonderful to have these stories on cd. Have many tapes and books from when my children were young. Would be brilliant to have them in a modern medium so my grandchildren could now listen to them.

As someone already pointed out, there once was a Torrent with every single Story Teller (including Little Story Teller & Christmas Story Teller) all with the PDF magazine files, THE WHOLE LOT…complete. I happen to have this 17GB file which took me weeks to download as I had to wait for it to be seeded from people who kept closing the file after it was complete at their end. I was planning to advertise this and sell memory sticks and post and packaging for perhaps around £40. I understand there is some kind of legality involved here but….hey ho.

Hi – Just wanted to say thank you very much for the excellent website and the links to YouTube – especially Christmas Story Teller 3! Listening to it on my HTC M8. It’s weird not hearing the tape player motor running away quietly in the background! God I’m so old! Did you also do the videos on youtube with subtitles? If so – your work is stunning – thank you so much!

Hi ‘Nobody’ – I’d be willing to pay a bit less than £40 if you’re still offering the stick?
